Imation 24x10x32 External CDRW Drive Adopts Seamless Link III Technology Maximizing CD Burning Stability

30th July, 2002, Hong Kong - Imation announced today the launch of 24x10x32 External CDRW Drive. Equipped with USB2.0 interface, the drive performs at 24x write speed, 10x rewrite speed and 32x read speed. Protection against "Buffer Under Run" is further enhanced with the adoption of Seamless Link III Technology.

Compatible to USB2.0, PCMCIA, IEEE1394 and USB1.1 Interfaces
The new Imation 24x10x32 External CDRW Drive looks similar to the previous model 8x8x24 with the external control panel that allows play and selection of music without additional software. The USB2.0 interface let users enjoy the optimum writing speed of 24x while allowing the flexibility to use PCMCIA and IEEE1394 cables for individual computer settings. Certainly the drive also backward compatible to USB1.1 interface which allows users to operate the drive even when USB2.0 facility is unavailable.

Adopts Seamless Link III Technology
The main characteristic of this external drive is the use of Seamless Link III Technology that can effectively prevent the problem of "Buffer Under Run". Since the gap between termination and resumption points is reduced to 2um only, which is the lowest value in the industry, it does not require big cache buffer to reduce the risk of insufficient memory.

Auto Speed Adjustment Function
The other worth-mentioning function is that the drive can flexibly optimize the writing speed in line with the resource consumption situation. Therefore, even when the computer is running several applications at the same time, or in case the CDR disc cannot reach its optimum speed, the drive will automatically adjust the speed to the most suitable and stable recording level.

Anti-Collision Function
For those external connected devices, the function of anti-collision is especially important because any vibration and impacts can possibly lead the write head leaving from the right track. For the latest Seamless Link III Technology, the firmware can record the position where the optical head stops and resume the operation from the same position.

Imation 24x10x32 External CDRW Drive is at the size of 165mm x 134mm x 39mm with the weight of 520g only. It can be widely used at Windows XP, ME, 2000, 98SE and Mac OS8.6 or above. Apart from Nero Burning Software and InCD (supports Clone CD) which are included in the package, it can also be used with Roxio Toast Software.
