Imation launches the new 48x24x48 Internal CDRW Drive High-Speed Rewrite Maximizes CD Burning Performance

20th September, 2002, Hong Kong - Imation launched today the new 48x24x48 Internal CDRW Drive. With the adoption of CAV recording technology, the speed for both write and rewrite are assured. Stability and reliability are further enhanced with the use of Smart-BurnR and Smart-X technologies. Besides the normal 80mins CDR disc, it also supports the use of 99 Mins CDR discs. Vibration Absorber System (VASR) is also used to reduce the vibration and noise caused during the operation.

Supports 48X Write   24X Rewrite
Although CDRW drive with 48X write speed is rather popular now, the rewrite speed is still limited to 12X or below. As for Imation 48x24x48 CDRW Drive, it is using CAV recording technology in both write and rewrite sessions, the performance for rewrite is doubled compared to other similar products in the market.

Smart Burn and Smart-X Technologies
Imation 48x24x48 CDRW Drive adopts Smart-X Technology that automatically identifies the disc type and adjust the writing speed according to the resources available. It provides the fastest 48X Smart DAE speed and high-speed VCD copying function. Additionally, it also adopts Smart-Burn Technology to check the media quality and set limit to the optimum burning speed. Users can opt for disabling this function and record at the maximum speed regardless the disc is up to 48X or not. Although the completeness of the data is not guaranteed in this method, the automatic selection of burning speed, the optimization of burning efficiency, the protection against laser head overload and the buffer memory are still effective functions that prevent any buffer under run.

Support CDR in extra large capacity and high protection against vibration. The Vibration Absorber System used in the drive can help reduce the vibration and noise made during normal operation. It also supports CDR in extra large capacity to the limit up to 99 Mins.

Imation 48x24x48 CDRW Drive is applicable to Windows 98/ME/2000/XP & NT. It is connectable in IDE interface with 2MB buffer memory. The drive is now sold at HK$590 with Nero Software, one IDE cable & one Imation CDR disc included in the package.
