Imation launches new SuperSlim Firewire Portable Hard disk Lighter, Faster and higher in Capacity

19th December, 2001, Hong Kong - Imation today announced the launch of SuperSlim Portable Hard disk in IEEE1394 interface. The transfer rate is 50MB/s and the capacity is in 20GB and 30GB respectively. The fast transfer rate makes it particularly suitable for audio/video and multimedia files management. It adopts the latest Fluid Dynamic Bearing Motor and Load/Unload Technologies that further ensure customers with high product quality.

IEEE1394 Interface
Followed by the launch of SuperSlim USB Portable Hard disk, Imation has introduced another SuperSlim series - SuperSlim Firewire Portable Hard disk. Being widely adopted by Apple computers, IEEE1394 becomes the standard in the industry and many notebook series has also included this interface in their specification. The advantage of IEEE1394 is the fast transfer rate, which is at 50MB/s max. and suitable for processing large files.

Super slim with 157g only

Fluid Dynamic Bearing Motor and Load/Unload Design
SuperSlim Portable Hard disk adopts the latest Fluid Dynamic Bearing Motor design to eliminate the friction caused during operation. It not only can reduce the acoustic noise but also extend the life of the hard disk. Additionally, it also adopts the Load/Unload Technology that will control the magnetic head to return from the magnetic plate to the original position in case of sudden suspension in power supply, which can eliminate any damages due to crashes.
